"Great Taste; Runny Consistency" 2006-04-16

Although I rarely make a habit of reviewing dentifrices, this "toothpaste" is so unconventional I decided to make an exception. I generally prefer paste over gel when I brush (and in a bid for the fans of conventional pastes, this product does contain hydrated silica which helps in cleaning efficiency), but I love the freshening effect of breath strips, so I decided to try this liquid toothpaste.
I had anticipated that the toothpaste would be extremely strong given the presence of the mini breath strips (which appear to be little white chunks of breath strip material suspended in gelatinous liquid), but actually found the toothpaste to be no stronger than some others, and much less strong than most alcohol-based mouthwashes or even conventional breath strips. I found the taste to be refreshing and pleasant, while not overpowering.
My only qualm with this product is the consistency: it is more like a gel than a paste (despite the name), but is actually very runny to the point that it is rather messy applying it to the toothbrush. Although I like the results of brushing with this product, I will probably return to a more conventional dentifrice in the future.
People who prefer gel for dental hygiene and who like the taste and refreshing attributes of breath strips will love this product; people who prefer more conventional toothpastes or do not like the taste of breath strips would be better off sticking to another product.

I was hesitant to use this toothpaste, wondering if it would be too strong. I decided to give the benefit of the doubt and try it.
The taste of the toothpaste is pleasantly surprising (you can put it in your mouth without burning) and I am admittedly fascinated by the suspended mini-breath strips.
My mouth however does not feel any fresher than with the prior toothpaste. I think the selling point for this product actually is the 'breath strips' inside the gel.

"Dentist Says "Whitening" Toothpastes are A Gimmick" 2005-08-04

I am a dentist that recommends Colgate-brand toothpastes to my patients. However, I always caution my patients that the term "Whitening" is a very generic term and is NOT related to tooth bleaching, which some associate with the term "Whitening". If you want to get your teeth really whiter, then I recommend a product like Crest White Strips. This has a true bleaching agent that will "whiten" your teeth much better that any "Whitening" toothpaste.
I like Colegate products for the fluoride and the low abrasivity, but I truly believe that the "Whitening" claim is a gimmick. Good product, but I don't like the possibly misleading advertising.
I like the intense taste of this toothpaste. Not everyone will like the strong taste, but it makes my mouth feel fresher longer.

This stuff is great - it really does a great job of cleaning your teeth and it tastes great. But, a word of warning, only use the pea-sized amount they indicated because it will burn your mouth! The peppermint is so intense that it almost stings. But it doesn't deter me from ever buying it again. It's just a great product and one of our favorites. If you're sluggish in the mornings, go ahead and squirt on a full brushload. You'll be awake in a hurry!

The toothpaste is fine....however, I only gave 3 stars because the Product Description says that it is 'Made in USA'. However, the boxes I received say 'Made in Mexico'. Disappointing in light of all the news regarding the safety of imported products. Also, the expiration date is May 2008. Plenty of time for my household of 3 but others may want to consider if they will use it in time.

Buy standard any old toothpaste and brush thirty seconds longer.
This works for ANY goal: whiter teeth, fresh breath, tarter control, and attracting members of the opposite (or same) sex with your dazzling smile.
This is perfectly adequate toothpaste and costs less than "fancy" brands with additives. Put the money in the bank.
